The Javelin Aurora is the world’s first and only container built primarily around the specific needs of wingsuit jumpers. Due to its unique design, the Aurora is meant for wingsuit skydiving only. The Aurora is not intended for BASE jumping, freeflying, or any other skydiving discipline. We designed the Aurora with one focus: great deployments on every jump. Conventional skydiving containers were developed with a vertical deployment in mind, which extracts the d-bag at a 90-degree angle to the jumper. However, as wingsuits have gotten larger and more powerful, the increased forward speed can extract the d-bag almost on-level behind the jumper. This change can induce deployment irregularities leading to higher-than-average numbers of cutaways. While wingsuit-specific canopies can improve matters, we feel most deployment problems originate before the canopy is even out of the bag. By rethinking the conventional main tray setup, and adding smart features on other areas of the rig, the Aurora improves not only the opening experience but the entire wingsuit jump from exit to landing.
