The Vortex comes with more options than any other design. Full flight instrumentation is available. You can fly this single-place gyro out in the open, or with a partially enclosed body. The Vortex is equipped with a composite seat which encapsulates the pilot with full support all the way to the top of the helmet, and cushioned with an energy absorbent ejection-seat material. The seat and fuel tank are seperate to keep the pilot away from the fuel. This arrangement is much safer than other designs. The Vortex has a shock mounted rotorhead, and our high-performance suspension system including swing-arm nosewheel suspension. The Vortex standard engine is a Rotax 582. The Vortex is a fully-triangulated “beefed-up” machine, engineered to accommodate options like our rough-field package and Full Lotus floats. There is also more cargo room (under the pilot seat) for carrying extra equipment.This is a highly versatile airframe. The Vortex is standard-equipped with toe-operated differential disc brakes, as are all Sport Copter designs. We are the only gyroplane manufacturer who does so.
