Sonex is a basic and economical, easy to build, all metal two place monoplane. Designed to meet the needs of the European and Domestic sport aircraft markets, it can incorporate various light weight contemporary engines of 80 to 130 hp (engine package weight of less than 200 lbs.), and is perfectly suited to the US Sport Pilot/LSA regulations. Outstanding performance is achieved through its clean aerodynamic shape and simple, light weight construction. The Sonex leverages horsepower in small, lightweight aircraft engines very efficiently, offering The Best Performance Per Dollar, and boasts an incredibly robust airframe with ample structural safety margin allowing aerobatics into the IAC competetion levels. In the current B-Model configuration, the Sonex has matured to offer more creature comforts, a wider variety of engine choices, more capability and greater ease of build. The Next Generation B-Models have completely replaced the original Sonex, Waiex & Xenos in the Sonex Aircraft product lineup. Original model Sonex, Waiex and Xenos Sub-Kits will still be available to those needing to complete their existing projects. All original Sonex, Waiex and Xenos aircraft will continue to receive full support, including legacy parts availability, if registered with Sonex Aircraft. As demand for legacy parts decreases, lead times may increase. Original Sonex plans will still be available for scratch building.
