BS B23 is mainly used in aerospace engineering but is also used in the marine and chemical sectors due to its excellent resistance to corrosion and erosion in seawater as well as other chloride containing environments. It is another wrought version of the 10/5/5 aluminium bronze and is used when the commercial CA104 is deemed not fit for purpose. BS B23 is also known for its high strength and excellent shock and wear resistance whilst being able to retain its properties at cryogenic temperatures.
SUITABILITY
BS B23 bronze alloy offers excellent corrosion and erosion resistance lending itself well to industries such as Oil & Gas, petrochemical and marine. With good resistance to shock loading, the alloy has good strength and toughness, and high wear and abrasion resistance. BS B23 also has excellent property retention in cryogenic atmospheres.
