Description

BS S511 is an unalloyed heat treatable carbon steel available in sheet and strip. FOR LOW STRENGTH COMPONENTS The alloy is suitable for low strength components requiring significant drawing operations during manufacture. BS S511 requires protection from corrosion if it is to be exposed to the atmosphere and supplied with an annealed tensile strength (Rm) 280-400 N/mm². The alloy is delivered in the softened condition. SUITABILITY BS S511 aerospace sheet is easily welded and is supplied in the heat treated condition. The alloy offers improved tensile strength once annealed. The material is used in applications where significant drawing is required during the manufacturing process.
