Arriel 1E2 powers Airbus EC145, BK 117C and UH-72A Lakota. Arriel 1E2 builds on the essential characteristics of every Arriel, namely, a modular design to simplify maintenance and an efficient and robust gas generator.
Around the world, an Arriel-powered helicopter takes off every 15 seconds – all day, every day
It meets the highest market standards in terms of reliability and robustness
One of Safran’s “best sellers”
The Arriel is the best-selling helicopter engine in its class. Over the past 40 years, over 12,000 units have been produced, together logging more than 50 million flight hours. With power outputs ranging from 650 to over 1,000 shp, the Arriel family now powers over 40 different helicopter types.
The most popular helicopter engine in its class
The U.S. Army is a major operator of the Arriel 1E2 with over 900 units in service in its UH-72A Lakota fleet. Lakota is a variant of the EC145 assembled at Airbus Helicopters Inc. in Columbus, Mississippi.
The Arriel family is divided into two product lines: Arriel 1 and Arriel 2. Their power ranges are, respectively, from 650 to 750 shp and 830 to over 1,000 shp.
Every day the engine is used in all types of helicopter missions and has earned a reputation as a safe and reliable partner for operators flying EMS, search and rescue, law enforcement or maritime surveillance missions, often under demanding conditions.
