The Petrel 912i VLA is a light instruction airplane with easy flying characteristics for students with a rugged structure conformed of steel tubes and fabric covering for easy and low cost maintenance. The engine cowls, rear upper fuselage and wheel fairings are made of composed materials to save weight.
The airplane is constructed with certified materials that where manufactured exclusively for the project by renowned companies like Tenaris. 70% of the materials are produced in Argentina while the rest is from international general aviation providers.
Flight controls have a neutral position with electronic trim and big control surfaces to improve performance
INTERIOR
The cockpit has an excellent 360° view for the pilots and it was designed to improve the awareness and flight instruments observation. The seats are comfortable and incorporate a head support and 3 point safety seat belt. The cockpit has heating and fresh air opening for comfortable long flights.
FUSELAGE
The cell is made from reticular steel SAE 4340 tubes welded with GMAW process. The safety structure surrounding the pilots was designed to withstand impacts in order to have a high grade of survival.
WINGS
The wings have a next generation GA 30315 profile.
The design is rectangular to reduce construction costs and maintenance . Flaps are mechanical with three point positions. The wing profile was selected to gain high lift and maneuverability at low speeds.
LANDING GEAR
It is made with SAE 4340 steel in tricycle configuration that function as fuses without damaging the main structure in case of impact.
