Description

the L-Band Intelligent Electronic Scanning Array product family is the next generation of circular AESA radars, for many applications, ranging from Identification Friend/Foe, via Data Link to Primary Surveillance Radar. Its operation in L-Band allows for long range and heavy weather resilience at the same time, where new processing algorithms and technologies secure improved resolution and even small target detection, overcoming what was believed to be limitations of physics. The circular array technology is far superior over flat panels, as it simply behaves fully symmetrically in all directions and does not suffer and in-between-edge effects. The AESA technology allows for controlled beam jumps within microseconds within full 360 deg and enables therefore a track while scan operation with fully flexible volume scan and dedicated priority target pointing. Where needed any L‑IESA antenna system allows for strict Emission Control by limiting radiation only to the absolute minimum. For Naval Application especially the feature of electronic vertical beam switching is of importance. It is not only used for platform motion compensation in rough sea, but at the same time able to counter multipath nulling effects at flat sea. Enabled by its circular structure, still despite elevation beam switching, its Monopulse characteristics can be fully maintained, so that no matter what, the operator just sees smooth tracks on a recognized air picture.
