The Radar Interface Module or RIM782 digitizes radar
video and inputs radar plot messages.
Target replies (including FRUIT and clutter) are received
by the radar antenna. After the radar RF receivers, the
signal is down-converted to intermediate frequency (IF)
and sent to the signal processor for further processing
and plot extraction. At the level of log-video, the signals
can be connected to the RIM782. ACP/ARP generated
by the antenna encoder, as well as a trigger signal, can
be connected to the RIM782 in order to align the video
signals with the appropriate timing.
Once that the video is extracted, it is further processed
by the radar head processor to make digital plot or track
messages. The data recorder inside the RIM782 can
record serial plot and track data, independent from the
data format
