IS-BagDrop counter is designated for self-service baggage tagging and checking in. Usage of IS-BagDrop counters helps to reach two main goals:
to reduce lines at check-in counters by rearranging passenger traffic
to cut costs of passenger service by automation of baggage checking in and introduction of self-service
Simulation modelling helps to figure out correct number of check-in counters, IS-BagDrop counters and self-check-in kiosks and to place them in the most optimal way in the terminal.
IS-BagDrop is supplied in two variants:
IS-BagDrop Adv makes the process of passenger and baggage check-in completely automatic – from passenger’s registration and boarding pass printing to registration of baggage and, if necessary, making additional payment for excess baggage. IS-BagDrop Adv completely substitutes common check-in counter.
The option of self-service baggage check-in is used to make check-in process faster in order to reduce lines at the counters.
ISBagDrop Adv is installed at the weighing and labelling conveyor of the system of baggage handling in use.
After scanning of boarding pass IS-BagDrop Adv helps passenger to check in his baggage quickly and transports it into baggage handling system. Baggage check-in by passenger is carried out in several simple steps:
Passenger comes to IS-BagDrop Adv counter and feeds reservation data, that is name and registration number of his reservation, into the system. After that the system finds the passenger in the relevant list and offers him to check in his baggage. Following instructions on the screen the passenger put his baggage onto the weighing conveyor. After weighing baggage tag is printed.
