Old Style GT propellers, for replica aircraft, or original antique aircraft are manufactured from combination of highly selected wood such as Maple, Ash, Birch, Mahogany, etc. GT follow original drawings dating back to 1920 – 1940s. These are normally installed on various historical engines such as: Siemens, Fiat, Gipsy, Franklin, Lom, Renault, RR Merlin and RR Griffon, BMW etc.
We maintain the nostalgic design and but use more modern airfoils. The individual layers are glued together to form a block using certified high performance aircraft glues. The blades areas are laminated in composite material to improve surface protection and ensure better blade stability over time. The leading edge protection available in standard type or vintage style are provided by a further composite strip bonded to leading edge giving added resistance to damage from grass, stones, rain, etc. The vintage type leading protection reproduce antique brass protection but with added advantages, using more modern airfoils section and are easy replaceable in case of damage. Vintage propellers are custom produced following individual demands. Each prop is personalized and customers can collaborate with GT Prop staff.
