Cobham Aerospace Communications provides a unique combination of antennas and SATCOM transceiver technology to civilian and military stakeholders. We design next generation aircraft SATCOM systems based on the L band of mobile satellite services (MSS), reserved and protected for air traffic communications. Our new products meet the industry transmission and security requirements for FANS 1/A, 2/B, and 3/C. This will provide operators with the benefits of reduced oceanic separation routing and enable continental 4D trajectory guidance in Europe (SESAR IRIS) and the United States (FAA NextGen). Our SwiftBroadband (SB) products remain available for non-security-related communications. Our group designs and manufactures several SATCOM systems that use “Inmarsat SwiftBroadband”. These systems optimize voice and data transmission intended for non-secure communications. These systems are found in a wide variety of aircraft in operation, from business jets to transport planes, where they provide access to telephone, email, video conferencing, and Internet search functionalities. They include Wi-Fi, as well as an interface for VoIP.
