Diana 2 - biegunowa prędkości i osiągi szybowca
Several factors contribute to Diana 2's excellent performance.
The glider is made of very light and durable carbon-aramid-epoxy materials.
The total weight of the empty sailplane without water ballast is about 185 kg.
The ballast itself can weigh up to 250 kg in the wings alone.
Diana 2 can fly with the most variable wing load capacity of any existing sailplane in the 15-meter class (28-58 kg / m²).
The specific, lying position of the pilot in the cockpit made it possible to reduce the diameter of the fuselage along its entire length.
This solution made significantly reduce the hull resistance.
The unique wing designed by Professor Kubryński, weighing only 46 kg without ballast, has a huge impact on the glider's performance. Diana 2's perfection exceeds 50:1,
which gives great opportunities in cross-country flying and competition.
Perfectly designed aileron flaps allow for very quick maneuvering of the glider.
These are just a few of the factors that make the Diana 2 one of the best gliders in the world in the 15 meter class.
The oblong cockpit has a large, front-hinged, gas – strut - suspended canopy, which is made in order to accommodate taller pilots up to 1,90m or even taller,
so they can also fly the Diana after making necessary adjustments of cushion,
headrest and rudder pedal position.
