Linear dampers provide resistive forces to provide improved feel for aircraft control surfaces or to dissipate energy from aerodynamic or mechanical loads. Arkwin dampers endure millions of cycles undergoing high side loads in dither conditions in the most demanding environments. Designs can be self-contained with integral reservoir or can be connected to the hydraulic system. Stepped damping curves can be developed to suit the application’s need.

Linear Dampers consist of a mechanically driven piston mounted in a housing assembly. The housing contains rate control valves, reservoirs, and other components like servicing provisions. Dampers can be combined with other functions such as trim control or component extension by solenoid command.
