DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT
The Nova line of fixed wing drones was Altavian’s first and flagship product. The system was built for maximum endurance in difficult environments. Early sketches of the Nova Block 2 envisioned a fixed wing drone with a single-piece chassis with v-tail ruddervator carrying modular sensor payloads.
NOVA F7200 FIXED WING DRONE
The final iteration of the Nova, the Nova F7200, is a hand-launched fixed wing drone capable of flying for up to 90 minutes. The system has an optional parachute landing as well as custom, drop-in modular payloads for multiple advanced sensors. The drone can fly in winds of up to 30 mph and has optional water-landing capability.
GEOMATICS
The Nova, as a rugged fixed wing drone, was the perfect system for large-scale geomatics projects in challenging environments for data collection. The ability to land on water, endure tough terrain, high temperatures, and wind made it an ideal system for research and mapping.
INTELLIGENCE, SURVEILLANCE, RECONNAISSANCE
The Nova’s modular payload design opened up new use cases for defense markets achieving TRL-9 as a fixed wing drone. An integrated video gimbal and high resolution sensor package were a natural fit for ISR operations using the Nova’s superior range and flight time.
