Crucial to the Army National Guard and the Department of Homeland Security, this airport is designated as the staging location for emergency Gulf of Mexico operations. Along with General Aviation traffic, the LAANG and DHS are based on this 2 runway airport. Eight sites were investigated, with the preferred site having to overcome VOR and Line of Sight issues. AJT provided construction support including on site inspections, construction draws and submittal review, as well as the procurement of all communications equipment through the Army National Guard.
